Bootcamp and a run

So last night was our bootcamp assessments.  I don't have all of my numbers until tomorrow night after we do our sprints, but I was very happy with my results!  Not necessarily the measurements or the weight as much as the strength and endurance and all of that.  I can't WAIT to see the percentages and share them with all of you!!  We'll get our real results tomorrow as well as do our sprints and find out which team "won" and gets prizes.  The last day of boot camp is always great!

I also signed up for the next session for summer, which I'm super excited about, but it sounds like there could be a chance of it not happening as it normally does because of the lack of participation.  So if ANYONE is interested in joining me for a boot camp, I would LOVE the company!!!  "Boot Camp" sounds scary, but it really isn't at all.  Do you work hard?  Yes, but only as hard as YOU work.  There are women of every age, shape, and size in boot camp.  Tina and Julie are both FANTASTIC trainers and will encourage you to do your best.  The motivation and commrodary in boot camp is AMAZING, the results are even better, and the friends I've made are absolutely priceless!  It's an amazing experience and one I would encourage ANYONE to do!  You can find more information and a registration form at
http://www.mnpersonaltraining.com/boot-camp/schedule-registration/
I will be doing the T & Th class at 7:30pm, come join me!  I PROMISE it will a great time with great friends and great results!

Another Awesome Quote from UA

Here's another quote that Under Armour shared on their facebook page that I loved and thought needed to be shared.

A walk in the park

Last night's bootcamp was at the city park in Cambridge and despite the mosquitos, it was FUN!  The first thing we did after a very short warm up/stretching session was our 1 mile assessments.  To push us a little bit more, Tina had us do tiers or waves....basically she started the slower runners first and gave them a 1.5 minute head start and then the mid speed runners, and then the faster runners went last and the mission was to pass those in front of you and not let those behind you pass YOU.  It definitely worked as a push to go faster.  I forgot my inhaler in the car and think if I would've remembered it, I would've done better than I did. However I STILL got a faster speed than I've EVER gotten.  1 mile is 9 minutes 35 seconds (my goal for boot camp was to be under 10 minutes, which I'd already achieved a week or so ago).  After the run we literally played on the playground.  Each person had a different section to play on and incorporate different moves and it was super super fun, but a CRAZY workout at the same time!  After that we did sprints up a MONSTER hill!  Those - SUCKED!!!!  In fact on my second time up my body just stopped.  I could NOT push it anymore, it had ENOUGH!  I could hear Mindy calling me "we can do it, we can finish together" but I almost passed out.  I walked the rest of the way up the hill and then jogged the "recovery round".  After that, stretch and then home.

Next Tuesday will be the rest of our assessments.  Weights, measurements, all of that and then Thursday will be awards and a group workout together for the last day of boot camp :(  I'm super sad, because I don't know if I'm going to be able to financially swing the summer boot camp, but if there is ANYWAY for me to make it....I WILL!

Bootcamp Update

So Tina messaged me yesterday and told me to pick a pyramid super set workout or a "21".  I picked the super set....mistake?  Maybe lol.  So each set consisted of 2 exercises that worked muscles in different directions or opposite muscles (ex: bicep curl & tricep extension).  So here's what it looks like....

Start with 5 reps....
5 BC, 5 TE, 5 second rest
6 BC, 6 TE, 6 sec rest
7 BC, 7 TE, 7 sec rest
8 BC, 8 TE, 8 sec rest
9 BC, 9 TE, 9 sec rest
10 BC, 10 TE, full minute rest

It doesn't sound hard, but boy!!  It IS!  After that we went outside and did sprints....THANK YOU NANCY!!!  However, they were not the typical sprints.  We had partners and one partner was holding plank in the grass while the other sprinted to Tina (half way through the parking lot) and then jogged back.  Once your partner was back you switched and they held plank while you sprinted.  Once we finished with a few rounds of that fun we did another partner activity.  One partner did squats with one leg on the curb of the parking lot and as fast as you could go while your partner did 5 push ups and then you switched and so on.

So that was boot camp and then after stretching and putting away equipment, a small group of us went for a 1 mile jog.  I was very sore and very exhausted and did NOT get a good time, but I did it and that's what matters.

My eating hasn't been EXACTLY spot on lately and I haven't journaled much at all during this boot camp, so I almost feel like I'm not giving the 110% that I originally really WANTED to, which makes me think I'm not doing my best.  However, I am looking forward to assessments next week and measurements and all of that good stuff.  I'm anxious to see my progress.  Thursday we are doing our 1 mile run assessment and then a work out at a park in Cambridge.  I'm sure it'll be a blast!  Next Tuesday is assessments and then prizes and such after a normal workout next Thursday and that is the last day of boot camp.

"Pain is weakness leaving the body"
"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."
"Suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret."

Great way to end the weekend!

So tonight I was so so so excited to go to Zumba I ended up leaving the house WAY WAY too early lol.  We did a bunch of songs I'd never done before, but I loved every one of them!  SUPER fun!  It was a really small group which was a little disappointing, but with the weather being so gorgeous here in Minnesota today, I don't blame anyone for wanting to be outside!  I actually took advantage of the nice weather myself and decided to go for a run after Zumba.  I was talking with Kelsie and told her there was no way I was going to go a whole 3 miles and thought MAYBE a mile and a half, but then I started running and I got to the turn around point for the mile and a half and decided to go a little further and a little further and pretty soon I was at the turn around point for the 3 mile run in Cambridge.  I had to do some positive self talk on the way back since I was completely alone for the very first time and my radio was so staticy I couldn't even stand it, so it was just me and the sounds of town and my feet on the pavement.  A little before the turn around point my back was REALLY sore and I really think it has to do with the bra I was wearing.  I can not seem to find a bra that fits me properly and haven't made it to Title 9 yet.  I know my posture wasn't the best even though I was trying really really hard.  I was....AM tired!!  I topped off the night with one of my favorite protein bars, Cliff White Chocolate & Macadamia and a banana.  Now for a relaxing rest of the night.

RUN!

Went for a 2.5 mile run tonight with my running buddy, Leigh.  He sprinted a lot further than I did, but I finished the 2.54 miles in 30 minutes and 18 seconds.  Not too bad if you ask me.  That's a pace of 11 minutes and 54 seconds.  We stuck right around that pace for the entire run.  At one point today I ALMOST cancelled, but I know that unless I DO something, my goals are going to be out of reach, so I gave myself a little pep talk "Cowgirl up and RUN!"

Hardcore bootcamp

Last night's bootcamp was HARD CORE!  We did our one mile run to start out with and I blew one of my 6 week goals out of the water in just 4 weeks!!  At the beginning of bootcamp my mile was 11 minutes 55 seconds, last night Tiffany and I did it in 9 minutes 55 seconds!!  TWO MINUTES BETTER!!!  How awesome is THAT?!?!?  One of my goals for the END of boot camp was to be under 10 minutes and here I am with 2 weeks left to spare.

Anyway, after the run we went in and did station.  I don't think they were necessarily HARDER than any other day, but I could tell I was pushing a lot harder and I was amazed at how much easier a lot of the exercises came.  I felt strong and motivated and determined and..........amazing!  It was a good "healthy day" yesterday.  I felt small, I felt fit, I felt sexy and beautiful, I just felt GREAT!  It was a great day, a great run, and a GREAT boot camp!  Tonight the plan is to run 2 miles and then tomorrow 1 mile plus Kickboxing, Sunday Zumba and a 1-2 mile run.  Can't wait!!  I miss Kickboxing and Zumba so so sooooo much!

I also came across another adventure race a couple days ago and talked to Tina about it a bit.  Sounds like it probably would not be a great idea to do the "Rugged Maniac" race this year, but we're going to train and prepare for it and next year I will ROCK THE HELL out of it!  I will BE a "Rugged Maniac"!  The last couple days have been amazing in the way of motivation.  I've gotten a hold of it again and I'm not going to let go!  I have goals to reach and they aren't getting any closer without the hard work and determination.

Another minor goal....I totally forgot to share with ya'll and with Tina!!  However, when I was working with Julie last week I realized that my calves don't touch anymore!!  I have a GAP between my calves when my feet are together!! WAHOO!  Next are the thighs!!

Quote from Bob & Austin

I just have to share a couple quotes I heard the last two days.

Yesterday from Austin on Biggest Loser - "Every single calorie you put in your body needs to have a purpose."

Today on Bob Harper's facebook page - "If you want to change your lifestyle....YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!"

Like a rock star!

So today we were having a dance party for daycare and I decided to give the kids a thrill and bust out my custom weighted hula hoop!!  I hula hooped for about 15 minutes, worked up a bit of a sweat, gave the kids quite a show and took a couple pictures :)  It was probably the hardest thing to do (get the pics).  And sorry they are all sideways I can't seem to figure out how to rotate the pictures once they are posted (they are right way up as a file on the computer)

Bootcamp Tuesday

Last night at bootcamp was AWESOME!!  Tina had stations set up and we did them with partners.  The first one Sam and I did was hurdles, but we jumped over them (forward and sideways).  Some were short and some were taller.  The next station was head to head pushups with a weighted ball pass.  Next was four cones and we had to run around them.  One side of the square was backward, then shuffle sideways, then run forward, then shuffle the other way, and repeat.  The next station (the first time around) was both partners on a bosu ball  , squat and then chest pass a weighted ball.  After that was box jumps on a step (I hate these, but strive to better myself each time I do them).  After the box jumps was a rope that Tina had tied between a light poll and the dumpsters and we had to bob and weave with an upper cut under the rope.  We repeated all of that twice and then she switched up a couple of the stations to include some other exercises.  About half way through class the owner of Willowbridge came and said we had about 35 minutes before the high winds and hail arrived, so we pulled all of the equipment inside and finished up our core workout with some team stuff.  The WHOLE bootcamp was a blast!  The outside stuff made it feel like less "working out" but I was sweating my butt off and breathing hard and my muscles were aching, it was awesome!  When we went inside it was just fun to do stuff together.  We were each on a yoga mat in a circle and we did some plank drill type things....everyone holds plank and we took turns doing push ups like a wave at a stadium.  Then we held elbow planks, then side planks, back planks and the other side planks.  SPEAKING OF......during my side planks Tina said "Becky, can you stack your feet?"  I said "no!" and then guess what?!?!?!?  I DID IT!!!!  The first time ever I was able to stack my feet in a side plank!  It was great!  Oh and ssssshhhhhh don't tell Tina, but I got on the scale this morning....222!!!!  Down about 3 lbs and I KNOW I can do even better.  I really need to step up my veggies and lean protein.  I've been depending a lot on protein bars and fruit for a quick meal lately.  Oh!  And due to the storms last night and having to retreat to the basement....I got a LITTLE extra workout in.  My stationary bike was sitting there looking so lonely without a rider, so I jumped on and pedaled away :)

New Quote

Bob Harper shared this quote on his facebook page today and I loved it so much I just had to share....

"Sacrifice or regret....you decide."

One pair of shorts

So last week I went shopping for my Texas trip and ended up buying 2 pair of shorts, 2 swim suits, a few tanks and a tee.  Today since it's going to be 83 degrees outside and I have the oven going I decided to put a pair of the shorts on.  BAD IDEA!  That one little pair of shorts just ruined my whole day!  I don't know why.  Maybe it's because I haven't worked out for a week, maybe it's because I'm PISSED that I'm working so hard and STILL can't look normal in a pair of shorts.  I never realized just how "baggy" my thighs are.  Standing straight up the skin on the inside of my thighs just hangs and sags and dimples and wrinkles and it makes me want to VOMIT!  Even the kids were looking at my thighs funny.  THAT was the end of that!  There will be no shorts on THIS body until I can FINALLY get to my goal weight and get the plastic surgery that I want to get to tighten all this nastiness!  That one little pair of shorts has squashed my motivation, took the steam out of my engine, and made me want to give up.  I know I can't do that.  I've come too far, I've worked too hard, I've gotten SO much healthier and I can't give up on all of that now.  My insides have changed so much, my confidence has soared and I feel like the negative part of my head is still there and fighting to pull to the forefront of my head today.  I feel utterly repulsive!

I NEED to snap out of it.  I need to just keep doing the work and keep pushing and keep telling myself that I'm an athlete and I'm beautiful inside and out and that one day all the hard work will pay off and I will have finally earned the surgery to have all the disgusting repulsive saggy, baggy skin removed from my body and thrown away forever in some hospital's garbage can, to be taken out with the scraps from the cafeteria.  The thought of such a thing makes me ill and I am TERRIFIED for the surgery, but by that time I don't think there will be anything to stop me from putting the icing on my cake.  How do I overcome this inner monster, how do I shoot that 400 lb negative girl right in her head?!?!?  Will I ever get her out of my head? Will I ever feel worthy?  Will I ever feel beautiful?  Will I EVER be able to wear a damn pair of shorts?!?!?!

Slacker!

I am such a slacker!!  I have not worked out since last Tuesday :(  It's been a whole entire week....AGAIN! uuuugggghhhhhh motivation, where are you?  Tonight is boot camp!  That should help!

Workout with Julie

So last night I had a good strength workout with Julie.  Originally I intended to run afterward, but with some of the ankle exercises we did, I chose not to.  Tonight I'm supposed to do bootcamp and run, but my ankle and low back are bugging me today and I am leaving at 5:30pm to head to St Paul to surrender our black lab puppy to Second Chance Animal Rescue.  A bitter sweet day indeed, so I'm not sure if I'll make it back in time to get to boot camp, but I'm sure going to try!!

I forgot to tell ya'll about my custom hula hoop!  Yup, you read right...hula hooping is a big deal and I've never been able to do it, but with the weighted hula hoops I can swing that thing around with anyone else! :)  It's super cool and I got to custom order it.  Mine, of course, is black and pink....pictures to come!  If you are interested in your own, contact me and I'll hook you with the gal that knows the gal that makes them!  Super fun!

Bootcamp and a run

Well tonight was boot camp and I was so pumped and ready for it.  I thought my quad and my ankle were both so much better.  I found out other wise :(  My quad was doing just fine until I started doing lunges at our stations and felt it pull again....uuuuggggghhhhhh.  THAT did NOT stop me from running after class though!  Tina, Nancy, Tiffany, my friend Leigh, and I ran 1.7 miles and it took about 20 minutes.  It was a good run and I feel awesome! :)  Pretty sure, like I mentioned last week, Wednesday is going to be my refocus day.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I feel like my goals are within reach :)

I also got to talk to my friend, Sara, today between classes (she was instructing a new Fitness Fusion class that was wrapping up just before boot camp).  I miss kickboxing and Zumba so so so much!  Hopefully I can make ATLEAST one of them this weekend.  She reminded me there are people out there that read these blog entries, which I LOVE.

Full Steam Ahead

I had an argument with a bag of Hershey Kisses last night and this morning....they got me in the beginning, but about half way through the match I went for the knock out!  After having 2 days off from working out, I'm feeling AWESOME!  The quads are good, the ankles good, my spirits are improving I'm ready to hit bootcamp tonight with everything I've got!!  Look out world!
