Last night's bootcamp was at the city park in Cambridge and despite the mosquitos, it was FUN! The first thing we did after a very short warm up/stretching session was our 1 mile assessments. To push us a little bit more, Tina had us do tiers or waves....basically she started the slower runners first and gave them a 1.5 minute head start and then the mid speed runners, and then the faster runners went last and the mission was to pass those in front of you and not let those behind you pass YOU. It definitely worked as a push to go faster. I forgot my inhaler in the car and think if I would've remembered it, I would've done better than I did. However I STILL got a faster speed than I've EVER gotten. 1 mile is 9 minutes 35 seconds (my goal for boot camp was to be under 10 minutes, which I'd already achieved a week or so ago). After the run we literally played on the playground. Each person had a different section to play on and incorporate different moves and it was super super fun, but a CRAZY workout at the same time! After that we did sprints up a MONSTER hill! Those - SUCKED!!!! In fact on my second time up my body just stopped. I could NOT push it anymore, it had ENOUGH! I could hear Mindy calling me "we can do it, we can finish together" but I almost passed out. I walked the rest of the way up the hill and then jogged the "recovery round". After that, stretch and then home.
Next Tuesday will be the rest of our assessments. Weights, measurements, all of that and then Thursday will be awards and a group workout together for the last day of boot camp :( I'm super sad, because I don't know if I'm going to be able to financially swing the summer boot camp, but if there is ANYWAY for me to make it....I WILL!
