Cleanse Day 2

First let me start by saying that yes, Tiffany is nosey!!!  LOL kidding Tiff!  I love that you read my blog! :)

So day 2 of the cleanse is going splendidly!  We are having a potluck today at work and I didn't really have the time to put something together nor did I have the desire to put myself in to a dangerous situation with all the fat ladden, carb packed goodness that is every office potluck, so I opted out and packed my own little lunch.

Menu of the day:
Breakfast - 1 Hard boiled egg, 4 ozs Blackberries
Snack - Greek Yogurt, 2 ozs Blackberries
Lunch - Shrimp and steamed carrots
Snack - Apple, Natural PB
Dinner - Chicken Cashew Salad (Chicken breast, green onions, grapes, cheese, cashews, and green yogurt) YUMO!!!!

Excited to cook dinner for my guy tomorrow night!  Stay tuned for that menu!

Updates

Well folks, clearly I suck at blogging on a regular basis and suck even worse at getting back on track when I fall off the wagon a smidge.  My birthday blew every healthy thought right out of my head.  It could've been the burger or onion rings or deep fried twinkie (that wasn't even good) or the alcohol, but either way, I bombed and the challenge went down the tubes.  After seeing my numbers after the challenge I was BEYOND angry and determined, so after indulging in a few cheese curds at the Scott County Fair this last weekend, I am on to a cleanse and a jump start to getting back to healthy.  I'm pretty sure that my thyroid is out of whack as well which is not helping ANYTHING!  I've been tired and sluggish and losing more hair than normal and those are all pretty good indicators of my thyroid being "off", so making an appt to get in to the dr is definitely on my "to do" list.  Until then, I'm going to do my best and I've got a really supportive new person in my life, which I'm definitely cherishing.  I've also found someone to watch my babies a couple nights a week at our house so I can go for a run, etc.  I am so thankful for everything in my life!

So here goes Day 1 of my GNC 14 - Day Cleanse....thanks Chad for giving me yours and deferring the cost for me until you are officially "ready"!!

I was ill prepared as I didn't get as much at the grocery store as I'd hoped, so I made do with what I had.

Breakfast - 1 Hard boiled egg & 2 clementines
Snack - 1 stick of string cheese & grapes
Lunch - 1 stick of string cheese, left over garlic roasted brussel sprouts (one of my new favs!) & carrots w/hummus
Snack - Greek Yogurt
Dinner - Teriyaki marinated steaks, Steamed Veggies, and Mixed Berries

Tonight we'll be hitting the grocery store to finish up our shopping!!

Challenge Days 4 and 5 of 18

So Wednesday night, my car took a serious crap on the way home for preschool.  Appears I may have thrown a rod :( and my emotional eating got to the best of me when I got home and saw my Tastefully Simple order had arrived complete with twisty grahams...that was dinner :(  Clearly it was a mistake and clearly I was emotional and frustrated and CLEARLY it can not happen again.

Yesterday was challenging, but nothing like the damn Twisty Grahams LOL.  The last twisty graham I put in my mouth was the end of the slip up though, I was immediately back on track and feeling good about my choices.  I've still been able to stick to the no dairy (with the exception of yogurt) as well.

Some things I've enjoyed the last couple days (I can't remember my full menu):

Homemade chipotle - Whole grains (bulgur, brown rice, quinoa, others I can't remember) with black beans, fajita veggies, and Sriracha sauce (I put THAT shit on everything!)

Applebees Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp (subbed the potatoes for steamed veggies)

Peanut Butter and apples

I don't remember exactly what else....but today the menu reads:

Breakfast - Greek Yogurt
Snack - none (I know, I know!)
Lunch - Leftover homemade chipotle
Snack - almonds and apple
Dinner - To be Determined

Hope everyone else is having an amazing week.  I'm sure I still have some struggles ahead of me, but a kid free weekend coming up, so I should be able to get a lot accomplished including a few morning of hard workouts and maybe a couple runs.

Challenge Day 3 of 18

I have to say that last night was so fun and I'm very very proud of myself.  A friend of mine had been promising the kids she would take them to Chuck E Cheese ever since my daughter dropped her "makeup" from Chuck E Cheese in to the mop bucket at the new apartment and we had to throw it away.  So last night was the night and I was excited, but SUPER nervous about the challenges that awaited.  A large cheese pizza plopped itself right in front of me and there was a machine with ice cream that was only $1.00!!  Rather than pizza and ice cream which would have completely violated the challenge rules, I chose romaine lettuce and spinach topped with hard boiled eggs, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, cucumber, tomatoes, etc from the salad bar!  Yes, I used REAL full fat ranch dressing, but we're not worrying too much about fat content at this point, so I used it sparingly and rocked the salad bar.

Today I haven't had to battle cravings yet and I've kept myself satisfied with carrots and hummus, chicken breast, and apples so far.  I still have almonds, more apples, a whole cucumber, and peanut butter in my drawer here at work, so there are still plenty options to keep me out of the snack shop.

Tonight I haven't decided on yet....maybe the mexican concoction I referred to yesterday for dinner...we'll see what the evening brings :)

Best of luck to all the challenge participants!

Challenge Day 2 of 18

Ok, so I'll admit....I f'd up already!!  Yup, you read right, I screwed up already.  I'm REALLY struggling with the "no dairy" portion of this challenge.  This morning I looked in my fridge (which is getting to be pretty bare) and there sits a lonely little container of blueberry greek yogurt.  Heaven knows the kids would fight over it, so I HAD to take it to work and unless I wanted to eat crockpot chicken for breakfast again like yesterday I didn't have much else available and if I wouldn't have had the yogurt I would've hit up the snack shop at work for something 100x worse for me, so I'm calling the yogurt a minor set back until I can get my dang eggs boiled (TONIGHT!) and have those for breakfast.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: Blueberry Greek Yogurt, Blackberries
Snack: Apple, Almonds
Lunch: Chicken Breast, Carrots and Garlic Hummus, Apple
Snack: Almonds, Cucumber
Dinner: I'm thinking a mexican chicken hotdish of some sort....chicken, black beans, seasonings, salsa if I have some in the cupboard, etc....I will skip the cheese, I promise!

One other little temptation that has been whispering to me from it's 5qt pail is the vanilla ice cream that's in my freezer and why oh why does it have to be sitting ON TOP of the frozen veggies like it's better than them or something!  So I physically have to grab the pail and move it in order to get to the healthier options.  How annoying is THAT?!?!

Anyway, enough whining!  I'm stronger than the ice cream and I value my health (and pride) too much to ruin this challenge in a moment of weakness.

Here's to a healthy week!
