My Vacation

So I went on a little mini staycation this last weekend and will be on yet another the coming weekend.  Did I hit a single gym or lift a single weight, nope!  Did I get a workout in?  HELL YES!  Several of them!  Vacations are about relaxing, yes, but they are also about taking time for yourself and that includes taking care of yourself mind AND body!  And taking care of your body means giving it fuel and giving it the movement it needs to stay functioning well.  So here's what I did to stay active and relax at the same time.

*When going to and from different activities on the campground I was either walking fast, jogging, or carrying a child.
*I played tennis....ok ok I'm no tennis player, but hitting the ball back and forth with my brother, niece, sister in law, and sister was work enough, you don't need to keep score to get a work out.
*Pony rides - the kids rode and I walked along side the pony and even jogging a little bit to give the kids a bumpier ride.  They thought it was great and I got a little boost in my heart rate.
*Water Park - Climbing, sliding, running, and jumping in the water is fun AND a workout.  Not to mention the carrying of the preschoolers again :)
*Swimming pool - Even just treading water will increase your heart rate and is an awesome low impact workout!
*Boating - The pontoon wasn't much of a workout, but the paddle boat was for my lower body (even though we paddled in circles) and if I would've gone in the canoe too that would've been a great upper body.
*Boxing - everyone loved that I brought my boxing gloves.  I boxed with my sister, brothers, nieces, and even my little guy (2 1/2) got in on the action.  It was a lot of fun.
*Competition - My brothers (who were in the navy) and niece (who is in competition dance) and I (who takes bootcamp and boxing classes) took turns demonstrating and comparing various different exercises, challenges we do/did.
*Hills - there was a great steep hill out the back of the cabin we stayed in and I thought a couple different times about trying some sprints up it or even just to climb up and down would've been workout enough more than likely.

And to keep our minds sharp.....Qwurkle!  Google it!

So see...you can still have fun and stay active.  I had a fabulous vacation with my family and can not wait for another one this weekend!  Hope everyone has a safe and happy labor day weekend!!

If it weren't for the obstacles.....

Sorry for slacking

Ok, I've been slacking on blogging, but I promise I have NOT been slacking on my eating and exercise!  The cleanse worked exactly how I wanted it to.  It cleansed the nasty toxins out of my body and got my eating back on track.  I've been doing awesome and so proud of myself!  I've missed one or two boot camps for reasons out of my control, but even on the days I miss, I make sure I get some type of exercise in.  Obviously not the intensity that boot camp is, but with a 2 & 3 year old I do what I can.  My running and endurance is has definitely suffered and considering I plan to do a 10K October 15th, I NEED to get on the ball with running again!

Boxing is an amazing workout and I absolutely LOVE the whole class and training and all of that.  I have my own PINK gloves and have recently discovered that some of my punches are a little much for my wrists to handle, so I've also got some pink boxing hand wraps to hopefully help with that.

Last night's boot camp was with the fabulous Julie Page, the owner and founder of Total Wellness Coaching.  It's been a LONG time since I've gotten to do a workout led by Julie, but with Tina being on vacation last night was it.  It was great!  I pushed hard and even though I knew my endurance was suffering I did my best.  I challenged myself and I succeeded on many levels.  Today is a "fall on the toilet" kind of a day and any boot camper knows exactly what I'm talking about.  When you wake up in the morning and your legs and butt and WHOLE BODY is so sore from the previous workout that when you go to sit on the toilet you just kinda "plop" down...hence "falling on the toilet" lol.

Have a great Friday and weekend!!

Cleanse Day #1 COMPLETE

I'll start off this blog with a quote that was shared on the Women's Health Facebook Page

"People do not lack strength; they lack will." Victor Hugo

Now for the nitty gritty....Day #1 of the cleanse was FABULOUS!  After the morning packet and breakfast I did have to bolt for the bathroom ONCE, but that was it all day.  I felt AWESOME!  I had more energy than I've had in a long time and the cravings for CRAP weren't around at all.  The only struggle I had was when the kids were having snack yesterday afternoon (chocolate chip rice cakes).  So yesterdays menu was as follows:

Breakfast:
1 plain rice cake
2 Tbsp vanilla yogurt
1 cup frozen raspberries
Water

Lunch:
4 oz Salmon fillet
Spinach
1/4 Onion
1 Roma Tomato
1/3 Cucumber (sliced)
1/4 c. Slivered Almonds
Fat Free Vinegerette Dressing

12 ozs of Green Tea sweetened with a tad of honey and lemon
Water

Snack:
3 celery stalks w/Skippy Natural peanut butter
Water

Dinner:
4 oz grilled chicken breast
1/2 c. quinoa
1/2 c. steamed vegetables (frozen asparagus stir fry)

Snack:
Peach Raspberry Smoothie (pureed frozen peaches and raspberries, water, lemon juice)

Everything was delicious and I never realized how yummy everything is with a drizzle of fresh lemon juice.  Either way I feel amazing this morning as well and had no problem pulling my butt out of bed.  I am filled with determination and ambition and obviously I don't attribute ALL of that to the cleanse, but I honestly believe it has helped TREMENDOUSLY paired with my GNC Mega Women's Active vitamins.  I can't wait for boot camp tonight.  I'm ready to get my ass kickin' on!!  BRING IT TINA!

Starting Tomorrow

I've been through a lot in the last few weeks.  Finalizing a divorce, losing a room mate, eliminating toxic people from my life, budgeting issues, all kinds of fantastic stressful stuff and I'm an admitted emotional eater.  It needs to stop!  I purchased the total body cleanse from GNC this evening and will start it tomorrow morning along with the meal plan (mostly an elimination of carbohydrates).  I'm hoping this will help me jump start my launch back on the wagon.  I haven't completely fallen off, but my feet are dragging and my toes are getting raw and I'm tired of hanging my the tips of my fingers.  I either need to let go, fall on my face, and get run over or I need to suck it up, dig to the depths of my very being, collect the strength and pull myself back up.  I've come way too far to fall now....I've invested too much money, time, emotion, EVERYTHING, I don't have any other choice besides to suck it up and DO THIS!  Balls to the wall!  Cowgirl up and get back on the bronc!  Hold on folks it's going to be one hell of a ride!
