Tuesday!

This morning I headed to the gym not knowing exactly what I wanted to do, except I knew I wanted to lift and the WOD wasn't looking particularly appealing (it was repetitive which in my head translates to BORING), so I just jumped on a machine and went to town here is what I ended up doing:

3 sets of 15 reps of each exercise
Tricept Extension (70 lbs)
Adductor (100 lbs)
Abductor (70 lbs)
Chest Fly (70 lbs)
Back Extensions holding a 30 lb dumbbell
Crunches on the Ab Roller type contraption

After all of that fun (and taking pictures of course!) I did stationary rowing for 15 minutes and went over 2000 meters....that's probably not near as far as it sounds.

One thing I DID realize is that it's SUPER easy to lose proper form when rowing and that I REALLY wish there was a mirror by the rowing machine so I could keep my form in check.  Most people despise the mirrors because they don't want to see themselves, but I like them to make sure my form is accurate (which is what they are for).

Back in the office tomorrow, so no workout....BOO!

Either way it was a good workout and I'm feeling like a million bucks!

Happy Tuesday

PS - because I'm a big dork here are some pictures I shot at the gym today with my iPhone.

ON FIRE! Still or again?

So this morning I woke up super SORE!  Knowing I needed to stay away from weights today, I decided to hop on the eliptical for the duration of my time at the gym.  I decided that today I wasn't going to just pedal my life away, I was going to make it CHALLENGING!  If all I can get in is 40 minutes of cardio, I better make it worth every minute and since the "weight loss" program on the eliptical is only 30 minutes and you can't adjust it, I went for the cross country option which allowed me to change my time and also my resistance.  When I saw that the first increase only moved me up to a level 4 resistance I pumped it up to 10, which put my peak resistance through the whole program at....hold on folks....18!!!!  THAT, my friends, is a challenge and boy oh boy did it burn.  It burned my thighs, my bum, every inch of my leg it burned and guess what else it burned....CALORIES AND FAT!  I incinerate a whopping 466 calories in 40 minutes.  It was awesome and I feel awesome....sore, but awesome!

Tomorrow I'll be working out later than normal due to a meeting with my son's preschool teacher (apparently we missed the memo about conferences), but have adjusted my work schedule so I can still get a good long workout in.  Back to weights tomorrow and then hoping to get SOMETHING done Sunday at least.

It's almost the weekend!  Hang in there peeps!

HOLY BURN BATMAN!

Yup, you read right.....BURN!  I did the WOD today and burned, burned, and burned some more.  It was crazy, but I loved every second and literally was dragging my feet by the time I was done.

So here it is....(my modifications are below the picture)

Instead of pull ups (impossible) or burpees (I despise them with every ounce of my being) I jumped rope for 40 rotations
Instead of jumping lunges (which I DID try), I did walking lunges with a 12 lb ball and added an abdominal twist across the studio floor twice
Instead of renegade rows (which are hard on my wrists) I did rows on the TRX

Instead of V-Ups I did toe touchers
DID the leg raises (and they were HARD!)
Instead of flutter kicks, which were irritating my lower back, I did swimmers on my tummy

After all of this I still had a few precious minutes left before I had to get working at the job that pays me, I decided to row for 10 minutes.  Probably not my best idea, only because my muscles were already SO fatigued and I hadn't eaten ANYTHING yet this morning, but I made it through.  I was SO exhausted on my way out of the gym I was literally tripping on my way out because my feet just didn't pick up like they did before the workout and then when I got in the car I literally had to PICK UP my foot to get in the car. LOL!

Oh well, after a fantabulous breakfast of roasted sweet potatoes and onions with garlic and rosemary and 3 eggs, I'm good as new!  (well almost)  Still sore and stretching every chance I get, but feel amazing!

Happy Hump Day!

P.S. Here are some random, silly pictures I took at the gym too! (I'm a photographer in my other life)

TRX BABY!!!!!

Doing some SERIOUS core work!

Expect the Unexpected

So today is my little girl's 6th birthday and maybe THAT is why both kids were so pokey getting out the door this morning.....or maybe that's just an excuse.  THIS morning has been FULL of excuses anyway, so why not another.

So getting the kids out the door late throws off my whole morning.  I TRY to be to the gym by 7am, but this morning I didn't even pull out of the school parking lot until 7:15 and need to be back home working by 8, so the internal arguement that ensued was quite entertaining.  The little devil on my shoulder said "You aren't going to get anything accomplished in less than a half hour"  The angel replied "Something is better than nothing, just do the eliptical".  The devil "But the Weight Loss Program you always do is 35 minutes!"  Angel "So do a manual program then!"  I decided to side with the angel and just do what I could in the time I had on the eliptical.  I walked in the gym and decided not to listen to either one of them as there sat all the glorious weight machine.  Normally I'm not a "machine" person.  I much prefer free weights, but I didn't have time to THINK about what I was going to do this morning, so I just grabbed one machine after another and plowed through 30 minutes of rotating between tricept extensions (70 lbs), the back machine....I'm not sure what it's called with a 4 lb ball held to my chest, hip abductor (80 lbs), hip adductor (60 lbs) and chest flies (60 lbs).  No it wasn't cardio and probably didn't do much for my endurance, but as I sit here and type and my arms and chest are quivering just holding my arms in a typing type position and every time I get up my inner thighs and outer hips ache, I know that the devil was wrong.  I CAN accomplish plenty in only 30 minutes.  It may not be what I planned, but it was what I needed.

So Happy Birthday to my baby girl and yay for her mommy!

Happy Tuesday!

Back on the bronc!

Well it's been a while since I've been to the gym, thanks to some pain in my neck and back and then a week in the office leaving NO room in my schedule for a trip to the gym.  Anyway, back at it today and on day #2 of a 14 day GNC cleanse, because I'm bloated and feeling all around "icky".  Anyway, cleanse is going well, I can feel I'm dropping a substantial amount of water weight, which is always a plus and I got to the gym this morning for a good 45 minutes workout.  I did the below WOD from Crossfit and had a very strong love/hate relationship with it.  Worked well, but kinda boring....

Just to clarify - I modified the V-ups with regular sit ups and some with a ball transferred between my ankles and hands.  Also did 10 lbs on the dumbbell squats, bother otherwise....rocked it!

Interested to see what tomorrow holds.

Happy Monday all!
