"I'm making myself a runner."

Last night again I was caught off guard, but so so so glad I was.  I walked out of Zumba soaking wet and my hip flexors were aching from all the hip shaking that goes on in the studio and Emily says "Wanna run the mile?" So I went and prepped myself a bit and walked out in time to see Tina, who we asked to run with us.  Sara and Kelsie joined us too.  As soon as I saw how many ladies were running I decided tonight WOULD be the night I run an entire mile.  I've never ever ever in my life ran a whole  mile without stopping or walking. Originally I fell back behind the group a little and of course my negative talk started and I had no one to pace with and I can't tell you how many times I almost stopped and walked, but then I hear Tina from the front of the pack with her little headlight shining brightly in my direction and I hear her cheering me on telling me that I can slow down, but I can NOT walk.  I really had to keep telling myself to keep going quite a few times.  And then I see a little headlight bobbing toward me and I knew Tina was coming back to run with me.  She says "It's just me and you" and she starts her ever wonderful positive self talk.  She talked me all the way to the finish line and through the sprint in the last stretch of the parking lot of Willowbridge.  I finished my mile in 10 minutes 42 seconds and then proceeded to bawl my eyes out and hug my friends.  It was an amazing experience with some amazing ladies!  Next goal....to run a whole 5K (3.1 miles).  Last night also proved to me that part of my tax return WILL go to new QUALITY running shoes.  My feet and joint were VERY sore last night.  Either way it was the perfect end to March and a great start of my weekend!
